Versace 2014 Spring and Summer menswear
London Collections: Men, Pitti Uomo and Milan Fashion Week: Men, this June is a very intense month for fashion designers who are going all out in exhibiting their 2014 Spring and Summer menswear collections.
Milano Moda Uomo opened yesterday in a very hot and steamy Milan; just the right environment for Versace’s 2014 Spring and Summer menswear collection.
Donatella Versace brought to the runway, gorgeous male models who needed nothing more than their courage, strength and physical presence, as the collection features a mix of elegance, with almost classic suits worn with extravagant see-through shirts and black sandals with gold embellishments.
The Italian fashion designer also had her favorite glam rock style, with biker leather jackets and pants, but also an athletic theme, with barely there swimwear, that will make some women feel the need to slip a few vertically folded dollar bills into the briefs, and wondering what ever happened to those big and baggy floral boardshorts.
The muscle patch – you know those colored florescent patches that athletes use to contrast muscle pain and strain – was predominant.
Not only were the models wearing them on their arms and legs as a sort of athletic tribute, but the brightly colored patch designs were also part of the collection and featured on T-shirts, shorts, jackets, and pants.
After seeing the man-halter and handbags in JW Anderson’scollection last week in London, Versace also decided to explore the feminine edge, with tightly belted with rolled up sleeves and worn with matching Bermuda shorts or long pants for city wear and paired up with accessories like medium size tote bags, that way he can carry around his own personal items.
There were several pinstripe suits, but the long pants featured banded cuffs at the ankle, and idea from athletic wear or pajamas or paired with Bermuda shorts that has a very upper class school uniform look, apparently elegant shorts are a must have style for menswear next season.
