Tom's golden rules
When it comes to behaving like a gentleman, Tom Ford knows a thing or two. So men (and their girlfriends) should be rejoicing this morning, as Mr Ford has decided to share some of his wordly wisdom, in an interview with Another Man.
According to Tom, manners should be top priority for a modern gentleman, and so should a good work ethic. He says 'People who do not work are so boring and are usually bored. You have to be passionate, you have to be engaged and you have to be contributing to the world.' The Daily Mail also lists his other rules, which include 'Don't be pretentious or racist or sexist or judge people by their background' and 'Stand up when people arrive at and leave the dinner table'.
Of course the essence of gentlemanliness doesn't stop at behaviour - sartorial flair is also paramount and Tom is well qualified to dispense advice on that matter: 'Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach.'
Better chuck out those stained, sagging, camouflage cut-offs, then. Sorry boys - we don't make the rules.
