Tisci tipped for top job?
The fashion world has been on tenterhooks for the past week waiting to hear who will replace John Galliano as the new head designer at Dior. There is still no official word from the label itself but the rumour-mongers seem pretty confident that Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci is the most likely candidate for the job.
According to the Daily Mail, Harper’s Bazaar editor-at-large Derek Blasberg tweeted: 'I was just told backstage at the @KatyPerry concert (of all places!) that Riccardo Tisci is CONFIRMED at Dior.' Riccardo Tisci has made no comment about this rumour, stating only that he is ‘very happy’ at Givenchy, having recently shown at critically acclaimed collection for the label at Paris Fashion Week.
Other names being thrown into the hat include Haider Ackermann and Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz. The latter would be well suited to Dior’s status as a luxury house but many believe he is too well-associated with Lanvin to leave, and Ackermann was recently named by Karl Lagerfeld as a potentially worthy successor at Chanel. Fashion Etc writes that Dior will likely announce the name of Galliano’s replacement once the troubled designer’s termination has been ‘finalised.
