Theyskens gets top job at Theory
Olivier Theyskens, the wunderkind designer who had previously worked for Rochas and Nina Ricci, has been named as the new artistic director of Japanese-owned label Theory, Elle.com reports.
Theyskens designed a capsule collection for the label which was shown during September’s fashion weeks, creating a buzz in industry circles for its understated, chic style. Clearly the success of the collection satisfied the Theory bosses, and Theyskens has been appointed as a permanent member of the team. He will be responsible for the main womenswear collection and will also make his first foray into menswear.
Theory founder Andrew Rosen told WWD 'Working on Theyskens’ Theory has been very inspiring for me and for the company. The launch has been very successful. This is an opportunity to work with Olivier on a much grander scale.' Theory is known for the minimalist elegance of its clothing, and Theyskens is a master of couture-like glamour so we are excited to see what the future holds.
