The shape of things to come?
Fashion seems to be going through it's cyclical period of 'shock, horror, women who aren't built like twigs are worthy of fashion too!'. Australian Vogue has put Robyn Lawley on its cover, who is a *drops down dead* size 14. Italian Vogue also gained praise recently for adorning its cover with four pulchritudinous beauties in a state of undress, who were also shockingly not stick thin. Though two covers don't make a revolution...
Australia Vogue's editor told The Daily Mail, 'She’s really beautiful and you have to make the judgement about whether a girl’s special or not, so it really wasn’t about size or to make a statement. When a plus-size model first turns up to the studio, she may be an anomaly to a team normally used to working with size-6’s, but once photographer Max Doyle started shooting Robyn, we quickly readjusted our preconceived notions of beauty.'
Lawley, who lives in New York, expressed pleasure that designers have realised that it's not only size 0 models who are worthy of covers, saying, 'Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and always has and always will.'
