'That' fascinator sells for £80,000
Little did Princess Beatrice imagine, as she was getting ready for her cousin's wedding, that she would inspire the imagination of web nerds, provoke hilarity and incite the ridicule of fashion writers the world over. But that's just what Bea did by sporting the world's strangest fascinator to Wills and Kate's wedding.
In response to the worldwide attention, Beatrice very diplomatically said, 'I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It’s a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope the winner of the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have.' The hat was sold for a whopping £81,100.01 with proceeds going to Unicef and Children in Crisis.
Bea's hat spawned hundreds of Facebook pages, including 'Princess Beatrice’s ridiculous Royal Wedding hat' and 'Princess Beatrice’s hat looks like a uterus' with 930 likes.
