Suite like chocolate
Karl Lagerfeld is a many of many talents and he certainly knows luxury when he sees it, so who better to design a world-class hotel room than Mr Chanel himself? But of course Karl is no ordinary eccentric and his most recent project is no ordinary hotel - Karl has designed a suite entirely crafted out of chocolate.
The project is designed to celebrate the launch of Magnum Ecuador and Ghana ice creams and the design has been made from 10.5 tonnes of chocolate by master chocolatier Patrick Roger. In an ornate chocolate room sits a chocolate bed with a chocolate sculpture of Karl's muse Baptise Giabconi reclining seductively on the chocolate lace bedspread.
The Evening Standard writes that Karl's idea was 'to flirt with a mix of modern and traditional French influences to create something remarkable'. Patrick adds 'What is important is precision, exactness and that's also why I decided to join forces with Karl because it allows us to push our work even further, to be even more precise, and that is priceless.'
