Sarah Jessica Parker to launch SJP shoe line in 2014
Sarah Jessica Parker will always been known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, the journalist who was in love with love, with fashion and had an unbridled passion for Manolo Blahnik’s high, fabulous and strappy sandals.
"Men I may not know, but shoes, shoes I know,” said Carrie Bradshaw in one of the episodes, and Sarah Jessica Parker is finally going to take advantage of all that knowledge that she acquired, and is ready to conquer the fashion world again, by releasing her own shoe line in 2014.
So who will the fashionista extraordinaire be partnering with for this debut? You get one guess … and of course and who else could it be than with Manolo Blahnik’s longtime CEO George Malkemus.
The line will naturally be called “SJP’ and the collection will also include bags and trench coats, and will be offered exclusively in Nordstrom stores early next year.
Apparently there will be between 35 and 40 different shoe styles to choose from, with the collection mainly featuring. single-sole pumps and flats with prices ranging from $200 to $300.
The SJP bags will be probably be sold under $700, with promises that the collection will feature 'beautiful combinations' of colors.
Speaking to Vogue, Parker said, “We’re putting new colors together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet. And in terms of bags, thinking about that period of the seventies into the eighties, what those women were carrying, taking away the bells and the whistles and hardware and really making it about the bag.”
This isn’t the first foray into fashion design for Parker. She had her own low-priced fashion line called ‘Bitten’ at Steve & Barry's, that also included footwear, but judging from the prices that the SJP line will have, tag-lines such as “Shoes should speak volumes at a price that whispers,"and "Fashion is not a luxury" won’t be part of the future campaign.
