Roberto Cavalli inspired by the silver screen for 2014 Spring Summer collection
Just days after Roberto Cavalli presented his autobiography titled 'Just Me' to the public of the Milan Vogue Fashion's Night Out event, the Tuscan born designer also launched his new 2014 Just Cavalli and his Spring and Summer 2014 collection during the Milan Fashion Week.
While the slightly more economical Just Cavalli 2014 S/S range that was ‘inspired by a surreal and imaginary world’ in a ‘cyber-Eden’ with strong floral prints and checks making their way on the runway, Roberto Cavalli 2014 Spring and Summer is ‘inspired by the cinematography of the silver screen.’
The designer seems to have partially set aside his adored and vivid animal prints in favor of more subtle animal prints in light and floating fabrics with a lot of bling for evening wear.
Cavalli’s 2014 Spring and Summer ‘women’ are glamorous confident and powerful dressed to the hilt in luxurious fabrics, where silver dominated everywhere from alligator biker jackets, on boyfriend style pants, sexy halter tops, highly embossed t-shirts and mouth-watering low cut dresses embroidered with bugle beads.
The accessories from high heeled evening shoes, to belts to the fabulous clutch bags with chains were also in silver.
The color palette wasn’t limited just to silver or the obligatory black on the highly decorated dresses, the daywear featured very light colors, from very candid whites, mint greens, degrade pink and lightly washed out blues, to a lot of greys embellished with silver, but Cavalli also displayed some fur , and one particularly beaded, python-printed chiffon dress was hung with fur stoles from one of the shoulders, a very roaring ‘20s Jazz Age look.
Stunning silky embroidered patterned kaftans also made their appearance on the Cavalli’s runway, which was probably less Hollywood, but more of one would imagine to have found in the sultan’s harem of the Topkapi Palace.
