OBE for Jimmy Choo founder
Jimmy Choo founder and Chief Creative Officer Tamara Mellon has been awarded an OBE by the Queen in recognition of her business prowess and her philanthropic initiatives through the company, writes Grazia.
Collecting the award in a suitably chic ensemble of polka dots and fur, Mellon said: 'I am so thrilled to be receiving this great honour and to be recognised in this way. I am grateful to everyone at Jimmy Choo - and our customers around the globe - for helping make our success possible. While our brand has global reach, the roots and heritage of Jimmy Choo are uniquely British so I am especially pleased and proud of this honour.'
Since the first Jimmy Choo boutique opened in Knightsbridge in 1996, the brand has grown to become one of the world’s leading luxury show companies. Mellon is now ranked as the 64th richest woman in Britain, worth an estimated £99million.
