The Dolce & Gabbana boys have been cleared of tax evasion accusations, with the Judge ruling that there is not enough evidence for a trial.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana had been accused of evading taxes of over $1.4billion - a fact they have denied since the case began 3 years ago. In a statement last year, they said: 'It's an absurd demand based on a completely abstract calculation.'
D&G's lawyer told WWD: 'I am very pleased with this decision. The judge prevented this from going too far, it's an investigation that should never have been initiated in the first place.'
The boys must have breathed a sigh of relief today - if they had been found guilty they would have faced up to 3 years in jail, and may have been forced to pay back the unpaid taxes in full. Stefano wrote on Twitter: 'Thanks to all for the great support!!!! Love :-)))) Stefano.'
