We all love a good highstreet bargain, particularly when people mistake it for something far more expensive, but it's no surprise that major designers are none too keen on seeing cheap rip offs of their designs on the shelves. And now they're fighting back.
A host of designers including Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff, and Bibhu Mohapatra gathered in New York recently for the launch of the 'You Can't Fake Fashion' campaign, held by eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
The event, held at the super swanky Dream Downtown, was held to bring awareness to the flood of fakery in fashion. As Costello Tagliapietra's Robert Tagliapietra told Style.com: 'It doesn't feel good to see a cheaply made version of your dress hanging in Forever 21 for $10'.
Specially customised canvas 'You Can't Fake It' bags were sold on eBay, created by the likes of Rodarte and Rachel Roy, all of which promptly sold out but there are still some non-customised versions available. Grab em now!
