Nicola Formichetti Lands Top Job at Thierry Mugler
London-based stylist Nicola Formichetti was announced today as the new Creative Director of Thierry Mugler.
Thierry Mugler developed a reputation for provocative fashion in the early 80s, so the appointment of Formichetti makes perfect sense. As a fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan and a contributing editor of V Magazine, Dazed & Confused and Another Magazine, not to mention a member of Lady Gaga’s Haus of Gaga (responsible for the subtle little raw meat number the notorious wallflower wore to the VMAs), Formichetti comes with excellent credentials.
There has been speculation about the appointment for some time, with many believing the role would go to Gareth Pugh. According to Elle magazine Formichetti will be overseeing both the men's and women's collections, and will present his first offering for autumn/winter 2011.
