It’s been on the rumour mill for a while, but today it has finally been announced that Angelina Jolie is starring as the new face of Louis Vuitton.
The Hollywood star is fronting the label’s latest ‘Core Values’ campaign, which (according to the Telegraph) ‘celebrates Vuitton's timeless classics in real situations on 'real' people’. In this case ‘real’ presumably meaning ‘insanely rich and famous charity-supporter’.
Shot by Annie Leibowitz, the image shows Ang reclining on a wooden boat in Cambodia with a Louis Vuitton monogrammed bag on her shoulder (just keeping it ‘real’). The label have refused to confirm or deny reports that Anglina was paid $10million for the campaign but did confirm that she will be sharing a significant proportion of her fee with a charity.
Vuitton's executive vice president, Pietro Beccari, told WWD ‘People are not used to seeing Angelina in this situation. I like the fact that it's a real moment. This travel message we give through personal journeys is a fundamental one for the brand’. Angelina joins fellow travelling-celebs Sofia Coppola and Keith Richards as a Louis Vuitton ‘face’.
