Marc Jacobs to Go Plus Size
Marc Jacobs is set to become the first high fashion house to produce a line for women over size 14. According to the Daily Mail the plans were announced by Marc Jacobs’ business partner Robert Duffy on Twitter last week. Although there had been no official announcement from the label, Duffy issued a series of tweets about his thoughts on the dilemma of finding high quality clothes for larger people (he doesn’t like the term ‘plus sizes’). He tweeted 'Listen, we are in the very beginning stages of talking to a partner about plus sizes. We gotta do larger sizes. I'm with you. As soon as I get back to NY. I'm on it! It will take me about a year. But stay with us.'
The label is looking in to how much demand there is for plus size clothes. Duffy continued by saying it’s a ‘great opportunity. Need to get the customers interested. They don't buy our 14 and 16's. I always get stuck with them.' He added: 'Interest in Plus sizes? Women are dying for fashion. Need to get the message out. But when we put 14 and 16 in the stores no takers.Stopped.'
