Kenneth Cole's Twitter gaff
Oh dear. You know that feeling when you make a joke that no one laughs at? Mainly because it's so jaw-droppingly inappropriate that no one could possibly actually find it funny? No? Well good for you. Kenneth Cole, however, is not so fortunate. The designer made an incredible Twitter joke blunder that has prompted a widespread media storm due to its offensive nature. This is the tweet that Cole sent out on Thursday:
'Millions are in uproar in #Cairo. Rumor is they heard our new spring collection is now available online.'
Cue stunned faces and an immediate backlash from Twitterers outraged that the head of a major international label could make such an ill-timed 'joke' during the middle of a major crisis. Cole has responded by apologising via his Twitter account and on Facebook, saying he didn't mean to make a joke out of a serious situation. Ummm...what were you going for then, Kenneth?
Ironically, one of Cole's collections is called Reaction. We reckon this is not quite the one he was hoping for.
