Helena Vs. the Fashion Police
Helena Bonham Carter comes very much from the 'Marmite' tradition of dressing up. You either love her style, or really, really hate it. Her recent appearance at the Golden Globes sent the fashion brigade into hyperdrive, with her somewhat eccentric combination of Vivienne Westwood dress (so far so normal) with less traditional mismatched shoes and evil villain sunglasses.
In an interview with People.com, Helena defends her fashion choices: 'Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong. But fashion is all about having fun. I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what one should wear and I feel like breaking the mould and seeing that the world won't crumble.'
When quizzed about her footwear decision at the the Golden Globes she said: 'Why not wear mismatching shoes? Who says we can't? I was just having fun.' Helena is up for the Best Supporting Actress award at this year's Oscars and will no doubt make sure that her outfit is as head-turning as previous ensembles. For what it's worth, we applaud Helena's fearless attitude towards fashion. It beats another blonde starlet in a backless gown, any day.
