Gucci announces McQueen tribute
Fashion's great and good will come out in force this September to pay homage to Alexander McQueen at a private memorial service in St Paul's Cathedral. The service will take place during London Fashion Week, and will be a celebration of the designer's life and work.
Friends, family and colleagues are expected to attend, and as the Gucci Group has publicly announced the date of the service as Monday 20 September, we expect there will be a fair few fans wanting to pay the respects too.
McQueen died in February this year and in May his ashes were scattered in Scotland, on the Isle of Skye. The family issued a statement saying: 'Lee cherished the times that he was able to spend on the Isle of Skye - he enjoyed the beauty, peace and tranquillity. It was Lee's final request that his ashes should be buried at Kilmuir.'
McQueen’s ‘right hand’ Sarah Burton was confirmed as the new Creative Director of the label in May.
