Gaga to show new film at Paris Fashion Week
When you’re Nicola Formichetti, creative director of fashion house Thierry Mugler and stylist to perhaps the world’s most fashion-forward celebrity, it kind of goes without saying that you’re going to put on something beyond the ordinary fashion show. Last season Formichetti persuaded Lady Gaga to reveal a remixed track from her new album whilst strutting down the catwalk and this season he has gone one further by persuading the Gagarella to make a short film to accompany the Mugler show at Paris Fashion Week.
According to MTV the content of the film is very hush-hush but we know it will include another remix of one of Gaga’s songs and has been created with photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, who worked on the You & I video. As ever with Fashion Week shows, it will be near-on impossible to sneak in to watch the film but Formichetti has promised it will be released online the day after his catwalk show.
US MTV’s Tamar Anita reckons Gaga has done a lot for taking fashion off the runway and into a wider public arena. She explains: ‘GaGa working with people like Nicola Formichetti has allowed designers like him and like the late Alexander McQueen to step out of the world of high fashion, which is often perceived of as elite, and become part of the mainstream music landscape as she's used high fashion to build her own personal musical narrative.’
