New York Fashion Week 2013: DKNY 2014 Spring and Summer 2014 collection
Color, comfort, stylish and real clothes, this what DKNY brought to the runway on Sunday September 8, for her 2014 Spring and Summer collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, with the brand celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
We’ve already seen Rita Ora fronting the DKNY 2014 Resort ad campaign and replacing 'wifey' Cara Delevingne as the face of the label. Now the the British singing star has also closed the fashion show, dancing her way down the runway in a graffiti covered New York set, with an actual yellow taxi sitting in the background of the stage.
The colorful New York set was designed by Daniel Liens and Dan Johnstone – aka ‘Bombina’ Dan.
The show was actually two-in-one, with new styles, but also updated ‘urban’ classics of the designer’s past best hits, for a step back in time to combine a new and and yet timeless N.Y. modern street style.
DKBY brought denim overalls matched up with long trench coats, patch covered denim, scuba skirts, sporty nylon anoraks, parkas, bodysuits, and platform high-top sneakers. Along with long sweatshirts and the DKNY logo prints were over a big number of pieces from printed dresses to two-piece sweatsuits, on rain jacket linings, so very ‘80s and early '90s.
The color palette ranged from neon to pastels to be matched with black or beige, with silhouettes from straight, flared and flowing.
Top model Karlie Kloss, showing off a gorgeous in a floor-length, coral red column dress – there were several sexy slinky dresses in black, white - that seemed to close the show, until Ora pranced out in a black and white short T-shirt covered in the DKNY logos, and a full black skirt to the sound of the Beastie Boys song Fight For Your Right.
Sitting on the front row were Bella Thorne, Kelly Osbourne, Holland Roden and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis.
