CNTraveller top UK spas 2008

When our bones are feeling a little bit creaky and we're in need of a generally good rub down, there's nothing we like better at StyledLife than tootling off to a spa. And what with Easter right round the corner we're practically chomping at the credit card to get ourselves booked in somewhere.

CN Traveller, (fabulous, luxurious creatures they are), have come up with a top ten list of UK spas. And we've gleaned off our five favourites. You'll be stronger people than us if you can resist.

1) Calcot Spa, Calcot Manor,Gloucestershire
This ex farmhouse doubles as a spa, and features a 16-metre pool, sauna, steamroom, outdoor spa pool, exercise studio, tennis courts and seven treatment rooms..taake a breath! Huddled deep in the heart of tranquill Cotswold countryside, this is the perfect place to hone those luxury lounging skills.

2) The Spa at Barnsley House, Cirencester. This divine country house, built top to toe with locally sourced Cotswold Stone, has 6 treatment rooms, steam room, sauna, relaxation room and hydrotherapy pool. The relaxation room is furnished with B&B Italian leather Chaise Longues and armchairs..as well as an open fireplace with views across the stunning Gloucestershire countryside.

3) Sequoia, The Grove, Hertfordshire. Touch more of a modern feel to this one...and we're not really sure how to pronounce it...but still, oh so lush. "Whether you want to pamper yourself with indulgent treatments, slip into the cool waters of the black-tiled mosaic pool, make the most of the state-of-the-art fitness facilities, or just relax in a fluffy robe and slippers" - Sequoia's got it all.

4) Grayshott Spa, Hindhead, Surrey If you're the active type, The Grayshott Spa could be just the place for you. Because a former Olympian no less runs the 'fitness team', providing a daily exercise programme for those wanting to do more than just lie around. (Not us) The spa also boasts indoor and outdoor swimming pools,nine-hole golf course, gymnasium, yoga classes and daily walks in the grounds. As well as a range of stunning spa treatments.

5) The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire - This enormous stately house-hotel looks super lovely to us. Huuge pool. Sleek treatment rooms. And beautiful views, including lakes, rivers and countryside, all around.

"Guided by a philosophy of holistic well-being, the spa uses ESPA aromatherapy products made from the highest quality plant extracts and marine actives. Therapies are carried out in one of 15 treatment rooms, and signature treatments take influence from the Hampshire countryside, where lavender, rosemary, mint and sage grow in abundance".
