Catherine Walker dies at the age of 65
Fashion designer Catherine Walker has died at the age of 65, her family has said.
Born in France, Walker made a name for herself in Britain as a leading couture designer with fans including the late Princess Diana, Joely Richardson and Vanessa Redgrave. She was awarded the title Designer of the Year for Couture at the British Fashion Awards in 1990 and Designer of the Year for Glamour magazine in 1991.
She had suffered from cancer for some time and died in a hospital near her Sussex home, Metro reports. Her family said : 'She built one of the most successful British couture brands and at the same time raised a loving family. She has dressed many of the world's most beautiful women.'
'She will be missed by both this team and her family, all of whom are determined to grow the brand and the legacy of this great designer.'
