Cara Delevingne: the new face to watch
Cara Delevigne, the 20-year old British model, may be new to the fashion industry, but she has come a long way since she made her debut on the catwalk in 2009. Famous for her fierce pout and bushy eyebrows, the granddaughter of ex-English Heritage chairman Sir Jocelyn Stevens has her hands full with a busy modelling schedule.
Cara was discovered by the modeling agency Storm in 2009 when she was only 17 years old. Since then, it has been non-stop work posing for Zara, H&M, Vogue, Victoria's Secret and countless catwalk shows. The young model famous for her bushy brows and edgy looks is often compared to Brigitte Bardot. She’s also touted as the possible replacement of Kate Moss who was also originally discovered and signed up by Storm. British Vogue also named her as the “star face” during the Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 having paraded outfits for big names during the fashion season shows including Stella McCartney, Moschino, Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, and Fendi.
Although the model is of a shorter stature at 5’9, this has not stopped her from achieving success in the modelling world. Cara was named 'Model of the Year 2012' during the British Fashion Awards. She has also plans on becoming an actress. She starred as Princess Sorokina in a 2012 film version of Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina.
- The Burberry campaign
Cara Delevigne is the current face of British power fashion house, Burberry’s beauty campaign along with newcomer Edie Campbell and Romeo Beckham. The new Spring/Summer 2013 campaign was unveiled February 18 featuring colourful frocks, trousers, and light jackets for the warmer seasons.
- A regular girl
Off the catwalk ramps, Cara loves playing the drums and likes to don casual clothes and beanies. While on a break during the Milan Fashion Week, the model was seen goofing around and simply having fun with a bunch of friends.
Last season alone, Delevingne participated in 39 shows parading clothes and outfits for high street fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel. This year she was present at the London Fashion Week, modelled outfits for Top Shop and Pepe Jeans before heading off to Milan and Paris for more catwalks. Indeed, Cara Delevigne is one of the hottest faces in the fashion world today if not the model star with the most potential to succeed and become an icon.
