OK, admittedly we’re not accountants here at FJ, so we can’t tell you what to do with your money, but we can’t help but wonder if the latest bag craze to sweep La La Land is…well…just a bit la la.
According to the Telegraph, celebrities have been flocking to Net-a-Porter.com to buy designer Simone Camille’s multi-coloured shoulder bags, which have now sold out online. Nothing particularly shocking about that, until you learn that the bag costs a whopping £1000. Don’t get us wrong, they are very nice bags, and we like the ‘boho’ look, but surely for this price one could afford to fly across the world, buy something very similar in, say, Peru, and still have change leftover for a cocktail and a spot of botox at the hotel?
Celebrity fans so far include Julia Roberts, who arrived at the Letterman show with one on her arm, and Nicole Ritchie. Net-A-Porter’s website describes the bags as ‘a collection of one-of-a-kind carryalls, expertly pieced together from vintage fabrics from far-flung corners of the world that make the ultimate gypset statement.’ It’s Gypset - you can’t argue with that.
