London Fashion Week drew to a close last night with a star studded bash at 10 Downing Street, hosted by Samantha Cameron. The cream of fashion’s elite including Tom Ford and Anna Wintour partied in the Prime Minister’s residence enjoying plentiful supplies of champagne and canapés before they jet off to Milan to continue the hard word of being fashionable.
Sam Cam wore a floor-length Jonathan Saunders gown to greet her guests, proving that her position as a British Fashion Council ambassador is well justified. She posed with the Grand High Queen of fashion, Anna Wintour, look every bit as a style-savvy as the infamous fashion dragon. She was joined by designers Anya Hindmarsh, Christopher Bailey and Stephen Jones plus fashion movers and shakers Topshop’s Philip Green and Marks & Spencer’s chief executive Marc Bolland.
According to the Daily Mail, Red Magazine Editor Sam Baker said: ‘I love how happy everyone is to be here. Designers who can seem quite intimidating are very human in this context.’ She later tweeted: ‘Everyone tries to get you to steal some loo paper. You have to explain that they get their loo paper the same place as the rest of us do.’
Adding some youthful glamour to the event was Anna Wintour’s daughter Ellie, and model and socialite Poppy Delevigne, daughter of Selfridges’ head of personal shopping. As one of the guests later told The Telegraph: ‘This is the centre of power in this country – and everyone loves going where the power is.’ Judging by that guest list we certainly couldn’t argue.
